The Brandenburg Gate

A famous landmark of Germany, the Brandenburg Gate is a triumphal arch built in the late 18th century. This Neo-Classical style Gate was commissioned by King Frederick William of Prussia and is a beautiful monument. It previously symbolised the separation of the East and West of the City, but after the Berlin Wall was torn down, the Gate now represents the unity of the country.

Berlin Cathedral

You can visit this outstanding Cathedral and see the impressive features of the building, including its striking facade and dome. You can enjoy the beautiful interior including the nave with its towering pillars, statues, reliefs and mosaics, and the rich decor of the chancel. Charlottenburg Palace

This magnificent Palace was built in the late 17th and early 18th centuries and was the former Palace of Prussian Kings and Emperors of Germany, and visitors come and see this impressive building with its grand Baroque and Rococo rooms and rich decor. The Palace is home to many beautiful collections including fine art and The Porcelain Cabinet, a room with a huge collection of porcelain pieces. You can also enjoy the lovely landscaped gardens and see the Mausoleum which was built by King William Frederick William III for Queen Luise.

Friedrichshain Park

This Park was constructed in the mid 19th century and is the oldest Park in the City and a popular place to come to enjoy the green space and lovely features including a picturesque pond and fountain. There are a number of monuments in the Park, such, as the Peace Bell, and you can see the beautiful Fountain of Fairy Tales with delightful sculptures of fairy tale characters. There are activities that you can enjoy here including tennis, walking and running on the various paths, along with play areas for children.

The Bode Museum

Located on Museum Island in Berlin, this elegant early 20th century building houses a range of beautiful collections of sculptures and Byzantine art, along with a huge numismatic collection. Among the exhibits here are works by Donatello and Canova, and Byzantine works dating from the 3rd century to the 15th century including Roman sarcophagi, mosaic icons, sculpted figures from the Eastern part of the Roman Empire and ancient Egyptian religious artefacts. The numismatic collection includes coins, medals and tools used for minting.

The Alte Nationalgalerie

In this splendid historic building on Museum Island, you can see impressive collections of art including paintings, sculpture and drawings. Among the beautiful works are those by artists such as Caspar David Friedrich, Karl Friedrich Schinkel, Carl Blechen, Johann Gottfried Schadow, Adolph Menzel, Claude Monet and John Constable.

Deutsches Historisches Museum

At this History Museum visitors can see a broad and varied range of fascinating historical exhibits. The collections here include domestic items, medical artefacts, industrial and agricultural exhibits, costume, toys, photographs, newspapers, ceramics, furniture, films, paintings, armoury, weaponry and uniforms.

Berlin Zoo

Berlin Zoo is an enjoyable visit for ages where you can see a wide range of fascinating animals which include hippos, polar bears, lions, giraffes, penguins and rhinos. Visitors can also watch the regular feeding sessions at the Zoo enjoy the entertaining sea lion shows.
