Audley End House and Gardens
About fifteen miles from Haverhill, you could make a visit to this grand Jacobean country house built by the First Earl of Suffolk, Thomas Howard, in the early 1600’s. Roughly two thirds of the house have since been demolished, but the remainder is still a beautiful building with many interior features to enjoy. These include the Great Hall, with a stunning carved screen made of oak, the impressive panels, frieze and paintings in the Saloon, and state bed made in the 1700’s. Collections to be seen in the house include paintings by artists including Canaletto and Hans Holbein the Younger and an exquisite historical dolls house. Visitors can also enjoy the landscape designed by Capability Brown and Robert Adam designed the Adam Bridge across the River Cam.
Haverhill Leisure Centre
This Centre provides a good range of facilities for you to enjoy and includes a well equipped fitness studio along with screens with entertainment while you work out. There’s a gym for weight training and a swimming pool, exercise studios, as well as a studio where you can enjoy spinning.
