National Museum of Slovenia
Housed in a splendid 19th century Neo-Classical building with lovely ceiling paintings, visitors to this Museum can view a wide range of exhibits displaying the history of Slovenia. Among the exhibits is a Roman lapidarium where you can see a collection of ancient stone monuments. Other exhibits include a numismatic collection along with applied arts, and also situated in the same building is the Natural History Museum.
Natural History Museum of Slovenia
You can see an interesting range of natural exhibits in this Museum, including fossils, minerals, plants, insects, birds and animals. One of the highlights is a very well preserved skeleton of a woolly mammoth, and other exhibits include a fish skeleton which is over 200 million years old.
Franciscan Church of the Annunciation
This elegant red coloured Church was first built in the mid 17th century in Baroque style with a later alterations, and at the top stands a sculpture of St. Mary. Inside you can see the fine main altar which was sculpted by Francesco Robba, along with lovely colourful frescoes.
National Gallery of Slovenia
Situated in a fine Neo-Classical style building constructed in the late 19th century, this Gallery houses art works dating from the medieval era to the early 1900’s. Works include both Slovenian and international art, and among the works are Neo-Classical, Romantic, realist and modern paintings. along with sculptures. Among the works are those by artists such as Jacob Jordaens and Elisabeth Vigee Le Brun.
Here you can come and have a family day out visiting all the animals in attractive surroundings. There are variety of animals, reptiles and birds to be seen and include giraffes, lynxes, cheetahs, chimps, zebras, red pandas and flamingos. You can also enjoy the fun sea lion shows and have a go at being a zoo keeper for the day.
This is a delightful city Park with plenty of green space and nature to enjoy. Situated in the Park are a number of buildings including Tivoli Castle with four iron dog sculptures by the entrance, Cekin Mansion and Tivoli Hall with indoor arenas hosting sports including basketball and ice-hockey. There’s also a lovely Baroque style fountain, attractive pond, a greenhouse displaying a number of tropical plants, along with a pretty rose garden and several statues. The Park also has a children’s playground and much wildlife including many species of birds.
You can see this unusual and attractive group of three bridges which cross the Ljubljana River. On one side of the river you can find the charming medieval old town and on the other side is the contrasting modern part of the City, and the Bridge is a popular spot, with good views of the river and old Town.
