Not far away, in Weybridge, you can visit this Museum dedicated to the history of Brooklands which was the first circuit in the world that was purpose built for motor racing, along with being one of the first airfields in Great Britain and a prominent base for the manufacturing of aircraft. Marble Hill House
A short distance away, is this 18th century Palladian villa which was built for Henrietta Howard, who was King George II’s mistress. Visitors can look around the rooms and admire such features as the dining room with beautiful Chinese wallpaper, paintings by artist Giovanni Paolo Panini in the Great Room, elegant furniture and porcelain, and the lovely parkland all attractively set by the River Thames.
Not far away, Richmond Park is a large and beautiful Royal Park and National Nature Reserve. Here you can see the Isabella Plantation, with streams, ponds and shrubs such as azaleas and rhododendrons. Also in the Park is King Henry’s Mound from which you can enjoy wonderful views across the Thames Valley and over to St. Paul’s Cathedral. You can enjoy the many ancient trees in the Park, especially oaks, and there’s a wealth of wildlife here, such as fallow and red deer, foxes and bats.
