Waltham Abbey Gatehouse and Bridge
You can visit the remains of this historic Abbey which dates to the 11th century, and was once one of England’s richest and most prominent abbeys, and last burial place of King Harold II. The Abbey was destroyed in Henry VIII’s Dissolution but still remaining is the gatehouse built in the 1300’s along with a bridge, and also there are the walls of a residence which was later built at the location.

This site has a rich history and was used to produce gunpowder for the Second Dutch War, the Napoleonic Wars and the Crimean War.
